About the Library

SCHS library is serving and catering to the needs of the students and faculty members as a creative and innovative partner in supporting the teaching, learning, scholarship and research activities of the Institute & University.

SCHS library has implemented KOHA integrated library Management software. OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) of books and other reading material are accessible from any location. OPAC consists of books, AV material, print journals and magazines, Theses ( http://symbiosis-koha.informindia.co.in ).

There are total 4 four sections in the library : Circulation Section, Reference Section, Reading Hall, Journals and IT Zone

Library Sections:


Circulation Section

This section includes the textbooks; these books will be issued to the students and faculty.

Reference Section

The Library maintains a separate reference collection consisting of encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, CD -ROMs, etc. All books are arranged according to the subjects and specialization. 

Reading Hall

Spacious, well-lit with adequate ventilation reading hall with a seating capacity of 100.

Periodical Section & IT Zone

It displays the latest editions of national journals, international journals, back volumes; question banks book banks, thesis, dissertations, magazines and periodicals. There is a separate IT Zone, which is WiFi enabled computers to help the students and faculty to access the online databases, CD/DVDs etc.

Circulation Timings Monday to Saturday 8.30 am to 6.30 pm
Reading Hall Monday to Saturday 8.30 am to 6.30 pm
Holiday Sunday

General Rules and Regulations of Library


  • Identity Card is mandatory for getting access to the library.
  • All members are advised to come to the Library in decent dress 
  • The member should register his /her attendance in the register that is kept at the counter near the entrance 
  • Member must register the name and time in the attendance register at the time entry and exit time.
  • Member shall not bring personal belonging (including personal books and other printed materials). Only loose papers, pen and pencil is allowed 
  • Beverages and Eatables are strictly not allowed inside the Library.
  • Member shall not smoke, drink or spit in any part of the library.
  • All users are requested to keep their mobile phones switched off or in silent mode when in the library
  • Member shall observe a strict silence in the Library.
  • No conversation is entertained in the library 
  • Important topics from Reference Books/Current Issues of Periodicals can be photocopied on request.
  • In case the book/magazine/Journal is lost, replace the same 
  • Books must be handled carefully. Tearing/ damaging the books is strictly not allowed. If found a stringent disciplinary action will be taken against the individual. 
  • Member shall not write upon, damage or mark any book of the library.
  • Member leaving the library should stop at the exit so that the person on security counter can check the material borrowed or taken out by them.
  • Member should not replace the book that is once removed from the shelf. It should be kept on the book trolley or on table nearest to them. 
  • The newspaper(s) are available on the newspaper stand for reading. Member is strictly prohibited to remove the newspaper from the stand or cutting/ damaging any part of it. 
  • Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library resources in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he/ she will be charged the full replacement cost of the resource. 
  • No photography of the Library shall be taken without the prior permission of the concerned authorities.
  • Suggestion Slips are available at the circulation desk for use. Suggestion slips should be dropped in the suggestion box only.
  • The Librarian reserves the right to suspend the membership of any member found misbehaving, abusing the library staff or behaving in an indecent manner and this will be brought disciplinary committee notice 
  • User may suggest/recommend book/books, which are useful for their study. Recommendation can be done online through OPAC (http://symbiosis-koha.informindia.co.in)
