About the Library

SCHS library is serving and catering to the needs of the students and faculty members as a creative and innovative partner in supporting the teaching, learning, scholarship and research activities of the Institute & University.

SCHS library has implemented KOHA integrated library Management software. OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) of books and other reading material are accessible from any location. OPAC consists of books, AV material, print journals and magazines, Theses ( http://symbiosis-koha.informindia.co.in ).

There are total 4 four sections in the library : Circulation Section, Reference Section, Reading Hall, Journals and IT Zone

Library Sections:


Circulation Section Textbook books which can be issued to the students and staff
Reference Section The Library maintains a separate reference collection consisting of encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, CD -ROMs, etc. All books are arranged according to specialization subjects.
Reading Hall Spacious and well lit reading hall with 50 seating capacity.
Periodical Section & IT Zone It`s displays the latest volumes of National journals and Magazines & Separate IT Zone with 3 computers with net access To help the students in accessing the online database & accessing CD/DVDs.

Standard of Passing:


Circulation Timings Monday to Saturday 9.00 am to 7.00 pm
Reading Hall Monday to Saturday 9.00 am to 7.00 pm

General Rules and Regulations of Library


  • Members shall observes silence in the Reading Hall.
  • Maximum 2 books will be issued for 7 days.
  • Renew the books on or before due date, else need to pay fine of Rs.5/- per book per day.
  • Important topics from Reference Books/Current Issues of Periodicals can be photocopied on request.
  • In case the book/magazine/Journal is lost replace the latest edition/Version a.s.a.p., if not then you pay the current Cost + amount overdue.
  • Books Are Your Friends thus Use Books Marks and handle it carefully.
  • Library shall not engage in conversation in any part of the library so as to cause annoyance to any other member.
  • Member shall not smoke, or spit in any part of the library.
  • Member shall not write upon, damage or mark any book belonging to the library.
  • Member shall not bring personal belonging (including personal books and other printed materials) and library books borrowed by them inside the library.
  • Member leaving the library should stop at the exit so that the material borrowed or taken out by them can be checked by the person on security counter.
  • Identity Card is mandatory for getting access to the library.
  • Books removed from the shelves by students, if not required for reference, should be kept on the book trolley or on table nearest to them. Please do not try to shelve them yourself. Please remember that a book misplaced is a book lost.
  • The newspaper(s) are available on the newspaper stand for reading. Do not cut any news or part of the paper.
  • Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library resources in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he will be charged the full replacement cost of the resource. Books Borrowed should be protected from RAIN, DUST, INSECT, etc.
  • Students are advised not to issue Books to other on their names.
  • All users are requested to keep their mobiles switches off or in silent off or in silent mode when they are in the Library.
  • Beverages and Eatables are not allowed inside the Library.
  • No photography of the Library shall be taken without the prior permission of the Librarian.
  • Library reserves the right to call back any issued book/item at any time.
  • All students are advised to come to the Library in decent dress they are in the classrooms.
  • Suggestion Slips are available at the circulation desk for you use. Suggestion slips are dropped in the box only.
  • The Librarian reserves the right to suspend the membership of any member found misbehaving, abusing the library staff or behaving in an indecent manner.
  • User may suggest/recommend book/books which are useful for their study. Recommendation can be done online through OPAC (http://symbiosis-koha.informindi

Borrowing Rules:

  • Library Borrower’s card is non-transferable.
  • Borrowed card holders is responsible for the book issued against this ticket.
  • The loss of this card must be reported in writing to the Assist. Library I/C.
  • late Fee Rs.5/5 per day will be charged after the due date.
  • Substitute for lost borrowed card will be issued on payment of Rs.50/-
